Radiant Flooring
Radiant heat from your floors will save you money and keep
you toasty throughout the winter. Under-floor heating is the most efficient way to keep your
home warm. Unlike forced air, which
looses energy as it travels from the furnace, radiant heating underneath a
newly installed floor means you are literally standing on the source of
heat!
Hot water or electric tubes are the source of warmth under
the floor, and their heat is radiated up through the surface of the floor, like
how an oven warms a sheet of cookies.

An
even distribution of energy also means that all surfaces are equally warm,
resulting in warmer air temperatures as a steady stream of heat rises from the
floor.
This type of system is very much unlike forced air systems,
which feed hot, dry air into a room at one or two openings where it immediately
rises to the ceiling, cools and falls.
Not only is the forced air pocketed with alternating layers of hot and cool
air, but the floor is always cold, a surface you are always in contact with.
In addition to cost and efficiency, radiant floor systems
improve the look and design of your home.

Radiant floor systems are practically invisible compared to forced-air systems, which have a furnace rattling off every 20 minutes and unsightly vents that accumulate dust and other allergen-inducing particles. A comfortably
warm room, from the floor up, is the only way you’ll detect a radiant floor
heating system.
